Lawrence Hill is one of the most gifted African-Canadian writers working in Canada today. He has authored a number of bestsellers, including Black Berry, Sweet Juice: On Being Black and White in Canada, Some Great Thing, and The Book of Negroes. His most recent recent non-fiction book is The Deserter's Tale: the Story of an Ordinary Soldier Who Walked Away from the War in Iraq.
